Christmas Limelight Sketch Challenge

HAPPY FRIDAY!!
I was lucky enough to get off work 2 hours early yesterday. Whew! It's been a long week. I took my extra hour to participate in my first ever Limelight Sketch Challenge. My friend Jen is on the design team and always fills me in when there is a new challenge, but this is the first time I've actually participated. Thanks CBC Enabler ;-)

Recipe:
Stamps: Trinity Trio (Unity Stamps)
Paper: Wassail (Basic Grey), Very Vanilla, Ripe Avocado (PaperTreyInk)
Ink: Ruby Red, Old Olive, Chocolate Chip
Accessories: Gold Spica Pen, Red Spica Pen, Prima Poinsettias, Gold Ribbon, dimensionals

This was a sketch challenge with a product challenge of patterned paper. Luckily, my latest Limelight order was waiting for me at home and had some yummy paper in it! The trees and the layer they are on are popped up on dimensionals. I'm kind of bummed about the trees. I was trying to bring in more red, but may have suceeded in making a mess more than making the trees pop. :-)

Anyway... Thanks for looking!

A Non-Christmas Card and SC207

Whew, I just had to make something that wasn't Christmas related... A good friend of mine shared some Lil Lovin's Rubbernecker images with me. I just love this little girl playing dress up! I also used 2 items that I received through WRAK. Once I had the little girl colored, I noticed that this ribbon from WRAK was PERFECT! Ric-rac is just so girly and the pink and orange are great! Then, to make sure it was a birthday card, I added the CB Embossing Folder layer which I also got through WRAK.

Recipe:
Stamps: Rubbernecker Lil' Lovins
Paper: Going Gray, brushed silver, Pink Pirouette, Off-White
Ink: Black
Accessories: CB Happy Birthday EF, Ric-Rac Ribbon, Copics, Sakura Stardust Gel Pen, Metallic Rub-on paste, Spica Red Glitter pen, dimensionals

I've been a long time reader of The Paper Landscaper . Denise layers on the inside of her cards as well. I figured it was about time for me to try it as well!

I just layered a piece of brushed silver on the inside and then used a corner punch on the Pink Pirouette. I think it turned out nice and girly :-)

Thanks for visiting!!

Yet another Christmas Card

At least for this one, I mass produced the images. All I need to do is get the cards put together, into envelopes, addressed, and mailed.... At this rate, I'll get enough made for family only. I've got to start earlier next year. Anyway, this concept was borrowed from Gina K but simplified for me. Gina's is gorgeous but had a few more layers than I really wanted to cut (yes, I'm lazy at this point) :-)

Recipe:
Stamps: Magic of Christmas (GinaK)
Paper: PTI White, SU Brushed Copper
Ink: Versamark, Vintage Sepia
Accessories: Gold Cord, Copper Embossing Powder, Circle and Scalloped Circle Nestabilities

Oh yeah... I used my new Ott light to take the picture. I like it.... Now I just need to work on the operation of the camera ;-) So obviously, I heat embossed the ornaments on white cardstock. I rather like the outcome. It's a simple card, but it is elegant AND it won't require me to send it first class parcel through the mail. That is going to save me about .60/card! YIPPPEEEEEEEEEE!!! Thanks for looking!

Christmas is REALLY Close

Have I sent out any cards yet? NO!!!!!!!!! Why would I think ahead? It takes the fun out of the stress of Christmas!! :-) Here is another Christmas card that I was able to get made.

Recipe:
Stamps: Three ornaments (unknown)
Paper: Going Gray, White, Basic Gray, Night of Navy
Ink: black
Accessories: CB Ornaments Embossing folder, Copics, Crystal Stickles

Hopefully I'll have more by tomorrow!
Thanks for visiting....

Christmas is just around the corner

As I mentioned, I have actually been able to get a little, very little, crafting done. This is the bookmark that I am making for the staff at DD's "school"(daycare). I learned how to make these at my upline's house a month or so ago and thought they were just waaayyyy cute!

Recipe:
Stamps: N/A
Paper: Whisper White, Riding Hood Red
Ink: Pacific Blue
Accessories: Chipboard, Pacific Blue ribbon, filigree brads, snowflake punch

This is a double treat because its an SU only project as well! I used chipboard at the top and inked it up with Pacific Blue. Then I added the whisper white square to the chipboard. I punched the snowflake out of Riding Hood Red and attached the filigree and brad. The ribbon is attached to the back on the whisper white and then covered by another piece of whisper white... I hope that makes sense. If it doesn't and you really want to know, let me know and I can take pics that explain better :-)

I also made some of my Christmas cards for this year. I used a beautiful Kinkade stamp from Cornish Heritage Farms. I cased the card from SCS.

Recipe:
Stamps: The Night Before Christmas (CHF)
Paper: Basic Gray, Brushed Silver, Night of Navy, white
Ink: Versafine Smokey Gray
Accessories: Copics, Sakura Stardust Pen

The medallion(for lack of a better term) at the top right is popped up on dimensionals as is the circle with the snowflake. I used the Hero Arts 1/2 back rhinestones on the tips of the snowflake for a little extra bling. Aren't these penguins just adorable???? TFL!

Recipe
Stamps: Northwoods Penguins, So Many Scallops
Paper: Pacific Point, Baja Breeze, White
Ink: Whisper White, Versafine, Pacific Point
Accessories: Pacific Point Ribbon, Hero Arts 1/2 back rhinestones, Sakura Stardust, Copics, White Gel Pen, Paper Piercer, stampin dimensionals, CB Snowflakes Emboss Folder

I added a little sparkle to the rain and to her umbrella. We were talking about dew drops on SCS yesterday so I had to break mine out for this card as well. TFL!

Stamps: Willow with umbrella(WoJ) Sentiment (WoJ)
Paper: Pink Pirouette, White, Creamy Carmel, Pretty in Pink, Basic Grey DP
Ink: Adirondack Pitch Black, Chocolate Chip, Pink Pirouette

BOOO Episode 1

Well, after much deliberation, I am spilling some of my secrets. This is one of the items I made for the WRAK BOOO secret exchange on SCS. I don't think that my BOOO friend frequents here, so I might be safe. Even if he/she does, they won't know what's in the package til they open it! :-) One of the requirements was to send something orange and black, so this is what I came up with.

The box has letters on 3 sides, B, O, and O --really creative huh?

The lid uses a Gina K image from her Happy Haunting set. To finish it off there is some ribbon from Pinkhedgehog papercrafts.

Recipe:
Stamps: Happy Haunting
Ink: Black
Paper: SU Textured Pumpkin Pie, Basic Black, and Ghostly Greetings DP
Accessories: ribbon, hole punch, Chipboard letter negative space, craft knife, Scor-Pal, Scallop Edge punch

The box is filled with some little trinkets that I really hope my BOOO friend will enjoy!

Another HH Challenge

YAY -- I got to spend a little time in my craft area last night. I decided that since I would never get all the SCS challenges done, I should work on the High Hopes Challenge -- I'm 2 for 2! I used the mug and the mitten for this challenge, cause I was in a winter/fall mode as it was in the 30's last night. The mugs are both popped up on dimensionals. The top one is paper pieced. I cut the hole in the mug on top, so the hot chocolate is actually showing from the bottom mug (clear as mug? I mean mud ;-))

Thanks for looking.

Recipe:
Stamps: All images are High Hopes
Paper: Bayou Blue, Basic Grey DP, Very Vanilla, Close to Cocoa, SU DP
Ink: Adirondack Espresso, Bayou Blue
Accessories: Copics, Dimensionals, Linen Thread, White gel pen, Sakura Stardust

World Cardmaking Day

Happy World Cardmaking Day everyone! There are so many great contests and prizes and info that are being shared that it makes my head spin!! But I thought I would list some that I know of for you.

Splitcoaststampers

Gina K

Unity Stamp Company

Limelight Papercrafts
I am sure that there are a ton more... but I just thought I should share a little of the wealth.

For those of you who didn't know, High Hopes has a new blog. They announced their first challenge and blog candy last week. The challenge was to make a birthday card and use brads..Easy, right? I had to be difficult and do things backwards. I chose my image, colored it and then decided to look for a color combo and a sketch. It was so hard for me. Anyway, this is what I ended up with:

I hope that you all have a wonderful day and get the chance to take part in a World Cardmaking Day activity. Thanks for visiting.

A Christmasy Challenge

Well, the challenge wasn't Christmas, it was actually a sketch challenge, but I needed an excuse to use this adorable Penny Black image. The image is called the Night before Christmas...then of course I realized I had the perfect sentiment that had just come from Cornish Heritage Farms! I also got to break into the Ski Slope SU designer paper... how fun!!!

Whiff of Joy Challenge

I actually got to stamp last night AND I got to ink up a brand new stamp!!! LOVE IT!!! I went out to the Whiff of Joy challenge blog yesterday and saw that the challenge was stiching. What better way to break in a new stamp. I also combined this with the color combo challenge from SCS this week. The colors were Really Rust, Chocolate Chip and Baja Breeze. I just thought that those colors were a great combo for a cool autumn evening, one where I just might indulge in some hot chocolate. So this is what I came up with. I used faux stiching on the Baja breeze in an attempt to mimick the argyle dry embossed pattern on the Chocolate Chip.
Some of you might say, wow, that sketch looks familiar! Well, it should, if you are as obsessed with the Mojo Monday sketches as I am! Thanks for looking!

A Christmas Card

Hi again.. I know what is the world coming to?? I also got a chance to play around with my new Cardinal Christmas stamp set from SU. I am trying to work out ideas for the Christmas Card stamp a stack in November. However, I can't stay away from my COPICS.... Anyway.. this is one idea. I'll have to tweak it to make it SUO but it works for a start. I also made this into a WRAK card since I used the luscious PTI Pure Poppy cardstock!!

Recipe:
Stamps: A Cardinal Christmas
Cardstock: Pure Poppy (PTI), Chocolate Chip, Naturals Ivory
Ink: Adirondack Pitch Black, Versafine Sepia, Versamark

Birthdays, Birthdays, Birthdays

Ooohhhhh, I actually got a chance to stamp this weekend. I recently joined the WRAK birthday fairies on SCS. I figured this would ensure I would stamp at least a couple of cards a month. This is one of the two birthday cards I made this weekend. I am using Cupcakeabella, which I received through the PIF thread. The sketch is from the MOJO collection (what else?) You can find the awesome MOJO sketches at Poetic Artistry Blog. I used a little Crystal effects on the cherry. Thanks for looking!

Bookmarks - Who knew?

I am constantly in awe of the creativity that is out there. I was at my upline's the other day and we made these super cute and easy ribbon bookmarks. After I completed this one, I thought to myself, these are perfect as teacher appreciation gifts! Let's hope I don't open my mouth and get myself into an issue where I'm making 200 or something like that! Anyway.. just wanted to share. The top section is made by sponging craft ink onto a piece of chipboard. There are two circles (1 3/4 inch) to cover up the center, one on the front and one on the back. We continued using circles to decorate. The ribbon is attached to the chipboard with sticky strip. The bottom uses a filigree and a knot. Easy Peasy!! Thanks for looking!

Fall Festival

Have I ever mentioned that I have the word "SUCKER" tattoed across my forehead?? Well, I do. I decided to go to the parent organization meeting at DD's school. One of the largest functions that they do is the Fall Festival. There is a different craft or activity in each classroom. I opened my big mouth and suggested that it would be nice if one of the rooms had a 6*6 scrap page so the parents would have a take home from the event. THEN, I said I would coordinate it. Mind you, the LAST thing I asked was how many I should prep... 200!!!!!!!! Well too late to back out now. So I went surfing on SCS and found an adorable, simple, 6*6 scrapbook page.

I CASE'D it here. I think it will work well, without too much trouble. Since kids are putting this together I even left off the ribbon with staples :-) Whaddya think?? I made one with a halloween theme and one with a Fall theme, in case there are people who don't "celebrate" halloween.

Teacher gift

As I mentioned yesterday, I wanted to make something small for DD's teacher. I finally completed the 4 cards last night. I hope 4 cards doesn't look chintzy... but I'm running out of time. All of these cards use the same color inks and cardstock. One is even SUO! I was proud of myself. (speaking of SUO, I cannot find my markers anywhere! I'm about to really panic)
