Duckies everywhere!

A friend of mine is expecting a baby in a couple of weeks. Since I needed to make a card, I decided to see what the DTGD challenges could do to "help" me. I managed to cover 7 challenges in one card. WHEW! It could possibly be construed as cheating, but I decided that since I don't have that much time to create anymore I should try to get some bang for the buck :-). This is what I came up with.

I used a sketch that called for an oval for the image. I did change that to a circle because I felt the circle was better for this image. I used Shapeabilities to die cut the ducks. I used white felt from Papertrey Ink. Then I colored it with my copics.

Recipe:
Stamps: Spring has Sprung (GKD)
Paper: Little Boy Blue, Lemon Drop, Green Grass, White (GKD); Paper Studio DP
Ink: Memento Rich Cocoa
Accessories: Velvet ribbon, Felt (PTI), Nesties Circles and large scallop circles, Copics, Dimensionals, Silver Spica, Shapeabilities

I think that this is one is my favorite DTGD card yet. I had so much fun coming up with this one. Again, this is a combo of 3 challenges. One challenge was to use a girl stamp and gingham... check! The next was a color challenge using red, yellow and green... check.. check! Last but not least was this really cool sketch.. check, check, check!

The Whiff of Joy image is from the summer Elisabeth Bell kit. She was colored with copics and cut out. She is popped up on dimensionals. The strawberries are from the Enjoy Sunshine Gina K Stamp TV kit. I really wanted some cherries to match the girl's hat but figured strawberries would work as well. The berries are also colored in with copics. Trying to use my copic lessons... hopefully it's working. Thanks for stopping in!

Recipe:
Stamps: WOJ Summer Stamp kit, Enjoy the Sunshine (Gina K)
Paper: Lipstick Red, White, Wild Dandelion, Grass Green (Gina K)
Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black, Memento Lady Bug Red

Struttin' with Glitter

This is another DTGD combo challenge card. This is a combo of 3 challenges, glitter, something that grows, and strutting your stuff (use something new). Well, I was able to use my new stamp set from *drumroll please* Gina K. This is the Botanicals stamp set. I used dazzling diamonds on the main floral panel. Then I used the sakura stardust gel pen on the sentiment. Just a note... the gel pen?? Shouldn't have tried to use it over such a large area. Lesson learned. Still, it fulfills the glittery requirement and should make my friend Lee happy. :-) Dirty girl Melanie's challenge was something that grows.. Botanicals, flowers, they grow! :-) Thanks for stopping by.

Recipe:
Stamps: Botanicals; Enjoy the Sunshine (Gina K)
Paper: In the Navy, Lipstick Red, White (Gina K)
Ink: Memento Lady Bug Red; Memento Danube Blue; Memento Dandelion
Accessories: Dazzling Diamonds, Sakura Stardust, Velevet White ribbon, White pearls, dimensionals

Another CAS

If I'm not careful, this whole CAS thing might start catching on with me ;-) It's kind of nice to see a finished product in 10 minutes or less after you start. This card is for Kim Hughes DGTD challenge -- Tone on Tone CAS. Honestly, I was a little stumped as to how to accomplish this. While I am pleased with the flower, in retrospect, I think the sentiment should be a little more visible. I would probably use some oval or circle punches in Lavendar and White and also a darker ink for the sentiment. Now, that I said that, I think I need to rework this one and repost... But for now, this was the card I came up with! TFL

Recipe:
Stamps: From the Garden (SU), the sentiment is Gina K
Cardstock: Lovely Lavendar (Gina K)
Ink: Versamark and Memento Lulu Lavendar
Accessories: Clear embossing powder

Orange??

Although I have a few friends who would be aghast, Orange is not, nor has it ever been my favorite color. When I saw the DGTD challenge to use orange as your main color... I cringed.

Hoooooowwwwwweeevvveeerrr, I have found that I LOVE, LOVE, Gina K's Sweet Mango cardstock. It's kind of a darker orange. I really enjoy working with it. This card uses Gina K's white, sweet mango and dandelion cardstock. I combined this with 2 other challenges. The first was to make a card that was not A2 in size. The second was to create something Feminine, floral or flirty. I'm having fun with these challenges, and hope I have a chance to create some more.

Recipe:
Stamps: Friends are Forever; Hope Grows (Gina K)
Paper: Sweet Mango, White, Dandelion (Gina K)
Ink: Memento Rich Cocoa
Accessories: Copics, Sakura stardust, chocolate Pearls

Gettin' Dirty? I'm trying

SCS hosted the Dare to Get Dirty Challenges again last week. These challenges are determined by current and past "dirty girls", the SCS Design Team. These ladies are all super talented. They lend their creativity and expertise to SCS once a month in the form of the DD Gallery. Each month they are given a theme and then they are off and running to create their awesome projects. This is one of my cards.

This challenge was "embrace the white space". Your challenge, should you choose to accept it, is to make a card that embraces the "white space"! Now I don't mean you have to literally use white, but try a minimalist approach to card making and see what you come up with!

Limits: Limit your layers! Try and make something that utilizes your card base and maybe one other layer. Don't be afraid to leave some "white space" showing!

Recipe:
Stamps: Friends are Forever (GinaK) and Botanicals (GinaK)
Cardstock: White and Sweet Mango (GinaK)
Ink: Memento Potters Clay, Rich Cocoa
Accessories: Copic Markers

True CAS

I consider this card truly CAS! The base of the card is white. The layer is a piece of DP from a Safari Matstack. The ONLY stamping on this card is the sentiment in the top right corner. How much quicker and easier can it get. I also think this is just a good all purpose card, masculine, feminine, and it could be for any occassion depending on the sentiment you use!

Recipe
Stamps: PTI Up Up and Away (sentiment only)
Paper: Safari Mat Stack, PTI white
Ink: Memento Rich Cocoa

Stamp TV Red, White and Blue Challenge

This is the card I made for Stamp TV's Red White and Blue color challenge. I decided at the time that a "patriotic" card would be too easy (don't know why). So I decided to go a different route. I chose the spellbinders die because it reminded me of a fence which seems to make sense with flowers. I was trying to add some dimension with the Copics on this one. Thanks to the class from Saturday and the online classes I'm taking from Suzanne Dean, I think I may be starting to understand my Copics a bit better. Hopefully those results will really start to show.
Ooohh, and I just ordered the airbrush system. CANNOT wait to get it so I can play!!!

Stamps: Year of Flowers (Gina K)
Paper: White, Navy, Red (Gina K)
Ink: Memento Black

CAS

Sometimes CAS (Clean and Simple) tends to be difficult for me. I try.. but then there is just something missing.. This is a CAS card that I tried. I fear that some would say that it isn't truly CAS because there are layers. However, it is CAS for today :-)

Stamps: GinaK
Paper: White and Kraft (GKD)
Ink: Memento Desert Sand, Memento Rich Cocoa
Accessories: Impressabilities plate, twinkling H20s

Baby Sketches

This is a sketch that I found on StampTv. I just love this sketch. It's just fun! I decided to make some baby cards with this for some friends that were expecting. Thankfully, both beautiful, healthy babies have now joined us in this great big world! The first is using GinaK Designs stamp set called Oh Boy! -- LOVE this set. It has great boy images and since I'm not totally buying in to the whole robot thing at the moment, I love that these are "traditional" boy images with such clean design!

Recipe
Stamps: GKD Oh Boy
Paper: GKD Baby Boy Blue, Ivory, Basic Grey Baby Boy (Matthew) DP
Ink: Memento (Rich Cocoa, Summer Sky, Dandelion)
Accessories: Nesties, Copics, Crystal Effects, GKD Spring Button Assortment, linen thread

This second card uses my latest addiction.... Precious Moments stamps. Precious Moments stamps were all discontinued years ago. I so wish they would start producing them again. Anyway, any of the PM stamps I have are from e-bay.. if you're interested. I thought that this little girl was just too precious. And the lace? Well all baby girls deserve lace, dontcha think?

Recipe
Stamps: Precious Moments; SU Full of Life
Paper: GKD Innocent Pink, Ivory, Basic Grey Bittersweet DP
Ink: Memento Rich Cocoa
Accessories: Copics, Crochet Ribbon, Nesties

Asian infused birthday

Ok, so maybe it's not totally Asian, but somehow the panels with the sprig of flowers seem Asian to me :-) This was another WRAK challenge card. This challenge was to find inspiration from a girls bedroom to create a birthday card. This was the one I chose http://www.rosenberryrooms.com/china-doll-bedroom.html. Notice the use of SU's Warmest Regards... again. I think that is one of the best SU sets I own. I love the script and it is small enough to fit on any card!

Recipe
Stamps: WRAK, warmest regards
Paper: White, Basic Grey, Going Grey, Pure Luxury Bubblegum Pink
Ink: Pink, Black

Patriotism

This is one of the cards I created for the WRAK challenges on Splitcoast. Someone RAK'd me the eagle image and I thought it was just perfect for a thank you card for our brave soldiers... I have many friends that are in the military and I thank God that they and their families are willing to make that kind of sacrifice on a daily basis! The main image is popped up using dimensionals. Coloring was with Copics and I used a white gel pen to draw in some stars on the flag.

Recipe:
Stamps: WRAK image, Warmest regards
Paper: Pure Luxury White, Archivers DP, Pure Luxury Red
Ink: Brilliant Blue, Brown
Accessories: Copics, white gel pen, dimensionals

Father's day

I decided I should post some cards that I have made in the past. This is the card for my Father-in-law for Father's day. I added crystal effects to the face of the clock and the portion at the bottom to simulate glass. I used Copics for coloring and a spica for a little bling. A little bling is ok on a masculine card right??

Recipe:
Stamps: Special Fathers (GKD)
Paper: Chocolate Kiss, Kraft and White (GKD); Kaisercraft DP
Ink: brown
Accessories: copics, crystal effects, dimensional, chocolate pearls, gold spica, sakura stardust gel pen

Copic Class

Well, today I finally had a chance to take a Copic coloring class. Coloring for adults. It was fun. I figured quite a few things out. So thanks to Caron for providing great tips. We also had the chance to do a MNT. I'm almost finished with it and will upload as soon as I finish!
