TGIF

I am soooo glad that it is finally Friday! I thought today would never come! If y'all have checked out the links on the left, you'll know that Paper and Such is an AWESOME blog. Julie issued a challenge the other day to use SC177 from SCS AND use a PIF image on it. This worked out very well for me, because I needed to make a birthday card for my SIL. She has a bassett hound and so I thought I would make a canine birthday card. I looked through my stash of PIFs and found...... "Birthday Beagle" by Whipper Snapper (LOVE this little guy, thanks to Kris for stamping him for me). Beagle, Bassett, they are both hounds... anyway, here is what I came up with...

I used some Basic Grey DP that reminded me of ice cream, hence a birthday. The top, sides and bottom of the mail panel were scored with the Scor-Pal. The main image panel is popped up with dimesionals as are the actual image and another layer with the nose and party hat. The nose has CE on it to create the look of a wet nose and there is also some CE on the hat for a little dimension.

Recipe:
Stamps: Birthday Beagle, Warmest regards
Paper: Close to Cocoa, Naturals White, Bayou Blue, Basic Grey DP
Ink: White Craft
Accessories: Prismas, Odorless Mineral Spirits, Scor-pal, Rectangle scallop Nestabilites, Crystal Effects

OOPS

I have been a bad, bad blogger lately. I do apologize. I've had a little upheval and that has kept me running. Anyway... I am going to post a card here that I would love some input on. My parents are going to an anniversary party for their priest. It is the anniversary of his ordination. I was asked to make a card... what I would love to know is this... the background? should it be red, as it is shown or black?

The first name, and winner of the Nesties -- Hobbywoman/Julie!!!

The second name, and winner of the stamps (if you don't know her, you won't know how totally ironic this is...) - Pam5/Pam!

Congratulations ladies! I'll get your prizes out next week!!

ARGHHH!

Ouch! My allergies are really getting the best of me this year. The sad part is I don't know what I am allergic too. I would think it was an allergy to spring, but sinced we had SNOW yesterday, I'm not convinced that spring is here yet. So, I decided to make an April showers card as a tribute to the spring that isn't :-) The braid is retired SU! Organdy ribbon. The image is popped up on dimensionals and the rain drops have icicle stickles. The background is SU! Pretty Petals (very springy) and the colors are Pretty in Pink and Certainly Celery. Big thanks to AJITZI for the PIF'd image. LOVIN' these Precious Moments. Wish I had the money to buy some of my own... but until then, I have good friends that are willing to share :-)

Did you notice??? I figured out how to create a watermark of sorts, thanks to SCS.. Really, what would I do without that site?!

HI! I hope everyone had a lovely Mother's Day. DH was so sweet to me. He let me sleep in until 6:30!! That's an extra hour and 10 minutes!!

I actually got a card made this weekend as well.

I just love this stamp set! Mind you, I don't think these are "real" colors for a morning glory, but I was trying to do some shading with markers. Not the greatest result, maybe, but not bad, in my opinion. It was fun anyway! Recipe is below

Recipe

Stamps: Morning Soft (SU!)

Paper: Pretty in Pink, Certainly Celery, Basic Grey Two Scoops, White

Accessories: Gold Cord, Many Marvelous Markers, Scor-Pal (there are score lines at the top and bottom that may be difficult to see)

Hope you like it!

More Challenges

HI! First off, thank you to everyone that has already sent cards in to Cards for Heroes! Secondly, there is still time and pretty good odds of winning for anyone that has not signed up for blog candy yet :-)

I really needed some stress relief yesterday so I headed to my stamping corner in the basement. I used the Color Challenge from SCS (Lovely Lilac, Certainly Celery, and Pretty in Pink). Lovely Lilac was difficult for me -- so I made it the base :-) Working this challenge also emphasized to me that I need more cardstock. If anyone has any ideas on how I can talk DH into agreeing with that, please let me know. Anyway, here is the card I came up with. Again I apologize for the lighting, but it's been so dreary, I was forced to use flourescent bulbs....

Recipe:

Stamp: Cherished Teddies Tea Time (Stampendous and the PIF thread on SCS) , Studio G clear stamps.

Paper: Lovely Lilac, Pretty in Pink, Certainly Celery and white

Ink: Black, Pretty in Pink (sponged on main image), Versamark (celery and pink layers)

Accessories: SU! Pink Tafetta Ribbon, Watercolor Pencils, Odorless Mineral Spirits, Blending stumps and stampin dimensionals (the main image is popped up)

Don't forget the candy for the troops :-)

Technique Challenge on SCS

Yesterday was the try a new technique challenge on SCS. The challenge was to make a diorama card. I have been wanting to learn these for quite a while so I took the opportunity to give it a shot. Below is the result. I have to say, I'm pretty happy with my first try.

I used the Penny Black clear set "critter party". I chose some springy colors from SU! (So Saffron, Ballet Blue, and Bordering Blue). I used Copics to color the critters. The little hedgie on the right, is popped up on a dimensional. The middle layer, which you can't see very well in this pic, has butterfly's and a little dog stamped all over. I used So Saffron ink for the butterfly background on the front of the card. This was so fun to do, I'm definitely going to try again ;-)

Don't forget to work on your cards for the blog candy!!!
